CSM 2009

We are pleased to announce for 2009 a Combined Scientific Meeting which marks the joining of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), (including the Faculty of Radiation Oncology (FRO), The Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR) and the Australasian College of Physical Scientists & Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM). Authors are required to nominate through the on-line submission process the prize/s for which their papers should be considered.  Please note it is compulsory for authors of nominated prize/s to be in attendance at the RANZCR Annual Awards Gala Dinner for the announcement of winners on Saturday 18th October 2008.

  • Entry for all Awards/Prizes is by submission of an abstract.
  • Submissions which do not meet the General Policies and Requirements in addition to the individual Award/Prize guidelines may be disqualified.
  • If none of the submitted abstracts achieve the required standard, an Award/Prize may not be awarded.
  • Judges' decision is final.

RANZCR/IRQN Quality Improvement Exhibit Prize ASM 2008
(All Radiologists and practice staff members)

Open to

The prize is open to all Radiologists and practice staff members.

  • Attendance at the Annual Dinner for Quality Improvement Exhibit entrants is optional.

Award

The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and a certificate.

The Accreditation Guidelines and Quality Committee (AGQC) of the RANZCR have been working to promote the awareness and importance of continuous quality improvement in practices.

The AGQC in collaboration with the International Radiology Quality Network (IRQN) would like to invite radiologists and practice staff members to enter a competition for the best quality improvement exhibit. Your exhibit can be related to any aspect of quality improvement eg: management, patient handling, clinical protocols, infection control etc. Demonstration of an understanding and application of practice audit and the quality improvement principle cycle is desirable. All sections included in the RANZCR Accreditation Standards can be potential topics for continual improvement, which can be assessed as part of a quantitative and qualitative review.

Examples of quality improvement projects can be found at the College website through the ‘Quality Improvement in Radiology Conference’ link.

Judging

Representatives from the College AGQC, evaluates “the best quality improvement exhibit.”

Please Note:The exhibits must be of a sufficient standard to be eligible for the prize. The AGQC reserves the right not to offer the prize if only one exhibit is submitted.

Award

Since 1984, the firm of Varian has kindly donated an annual monetary prize and a plaque to be awarded for the best scientific paper prepared and presented by a Student Member in the Radiation Oncology section of the Scientific Program of the ASM.  This year, the cash prize is $1,500. The prize will be judged on the following criteria; originality, hypothesis generation, methodology, amount of work undertaken, analysis of results, presentation, clinical importance and response to questions.  The abstract should include an indication of the background/hypothesis, methods/patients involved and results and conclusions.
