Dr Max Hookway
Max Hookway was awarded his medical degree from the University of Southampton and after a few years in the junior surgical wilderness, completed radiology training on the Wessex scheme. He then spent a year as a staff radiologist at Christchurch Public Hospital before returning to the UK to take a position as a consultant radiologist at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, now part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
His main reporting subspecialties are emergency, abdominal and neuroradiology. He has interests in error and education, leading the local REALM (radiology events and learning meeting) and teaching residents.
Dr Giles Maskell
Dr Giles Maskell is a consultant radiologist based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, UK, since 1991. From 2013 to 2016 he was President of the Royal College of Radiologists. He has lectured widely and written extensively on aspects of radiological practice. He has a particular interest in radiological error – the perceptual, cognitive and cultural reasons behind it and strategies for preventing or reducing it – and in the development and maintenance of a healthy culture in radiology departments, together with the impact that can have on reducing stress and burnout. He is clinical lead for the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) radiology workstream, an improvement programme in the English NHS.
Dr Tubo Shi
Tubo Shi is a radiologist and Imaging Informatics and AI Fellow at Mayo Clinic, with a background in clinical radiology, medical education, and health technology development.. He completed radiology training in New Zealand and has led informatics initiatives spanning workflow automation, scheduling systems, dashboards, and backup RIS development. Tubo is also cofounder and developer of Ace the Exam, an online medical exam platform used by thousands of doctors across Australia and New Zealand. His interests include imaging informatics, AI in healthcare, workflow optimisation, and building practical digital tools that improve clinical care.
Prof Carol C. Wu
Dr Carol Wu is a Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas.
Dr Wu received her medical degree and completed her diagnostic radiology residency and cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at UCLA. She worked as a staff radiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from 2008-2014 before moving to the MD Anderson Cancer Center as an Associate Professor.
Her research focuses on applying artificial intelligence techniques to improve the diagnosis and response prediction of lung cancer and esophageal cancer. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles with more than 10,000 citations. She has also written numerous book chapters and co-edited multiple textbooks, most notably Thoracic Imaging the Requisites 2nd edition and Muller’s Imaging of the Chest, 2nd edition. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging and is also on the Editorial Board of Radiology Cardiothoracic Imaging. Currently she is Chair of the American Roentgen Ray Society International Outreach Committee and Treasurer of the Society of Thoracic Radiology. She has received the RSNA Honored Educator Award multiple times.
Prof Seth Kligerman
Dr Seth J. Kligerman is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology at National Jewish Health (NJH) in Denver, Colorado. Prior to joining NJH, Dr. Kligerman was professor and department chief of cardiothoracic radiology at the University of California, San Diego from 2017-2023. He began his career at the University of Maryland starting in 2009.
Dr Kligerman earned his MD from Chicago Medical School in 2003, did his diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Colorado in 2008, followed by a cardiothoracic radiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
His clinical expertise encompasses a broad range of thoracic and cardiovascular topics including the organizing pneumonia, radiologic-pathologic correlation of lung disease, EVALI, and CTEPH. Dr. Kligerman has co-authored over 110 book chapters and 130 peer-reviewed articles in journals including NEJM, JAMA, Radiology, AJR, and JTI. He currently serves as deputy editor for thoracic imaging forRadiographics. He has been invited to give over 300 lectures nationally and internationally and has received the RSNA Honored Educator Reward.
Prof Alan Matsumoto
Dr Alan H. Matsumoto is a Professor in Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia (UVA) & Director of the UVA Focused Ultrasound Center of Excellence.
After completing training in internal medicine and diagnostic and interventional radiology, Alan joined the faculty at UVA in 1991, where he still practices. He also served as the Department Chair for 15 years until 2024. He has co-authored more than 300 manuscripts and book chapters, given over 300 invited talks, and been involved in the training of more than 300 Radiology residents and 150 IR residents and fellows. He has received a Lifetime Achievement award from the American Board of Radiology, a Gold Medal from the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the ATLAS (A Teacher, Leader And Scholar) award from the VIVA Foundation. Alan has served as the President of the SIR, Chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors and is currently the President of the ACR.
Dr Wolfgang Schima
After his Radiology residency at the University of Vienna he was 1995-96 research fellow in abdominal MRI at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School). He was appointed Associate Professor of Radiology at University of Vienna and acquired an MSc in Health Care Management. Since 2011 he serves as Chief of Radiology of Göttlicher Heiland Krankenhaus, Barmherzige Schwestern Krankenhaus, and Sankt Josef Krankenhaus in Vienna (Vinzenzkliniken).
He was president of the International Cancer Imaging Society (ICIS) and Austrian Radiologic Society. He served in the Executive Committee of ESGAR as chairman of Austrian Radiologic Board Examination (2008-2012), and as member of the European Board of Radiology (EDiR) (2011-2017). 2021-2023 Section Editor Oncology for “European Radiology”. He was bestowed the Gold Medal of ICIS and Honorary Membership of the Austrian Radiologic Society.
His main interest is abdominal oncology. Authored >220 peer-reviewed articles, 59 book chapters, co-edited 6 books. More than 800 invited lectures on national and international meetings.
Prof Smita Patel
Dr. Smita Patel is a Professor of Radiology in the Cardiothoracic Division and Director of Cardiac CT at the University of Michigan. Her expertise centers on cardiac and aortic/vascular CT, as well as high-resolution CT (HRCT). She currently chairs the Intersociety and Global Outreach Committee (IGLO) of the Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR), where she is deeply committed to expanding educational opportunities for residents and practicing radiologists in underserved countries worldwide. She currently serves on the Radiographics Panel for Chest Radiology for the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). She is also a member of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) Online Longitudinal Assessment (OLA) Group for Cardiac Radiology. Previously, she chaired the scientific committees of both the STR and the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) and served as a member of the RSNA chest and cardiac scientific committees.
Dr Michael Lev
Dr. Lev has been an attending neuroradiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital since 1995 and is currently Director of Emergency Radiology & Emergency Neuroradiology, and Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Radiology, with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology. He served as deputy editor for neuroimaging of the journal Radiology – the flagship journal of the Radiological Society of North America – from August 2007 – March 2009, for which he continues as Senior Consultant to the Editor (2008-current), and was an editorial board member of the American Journal of Neuroradiology (AJNR) from 2000-2020. He is an elected fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), the American Society of Emergency Radiology (FASER), and the American College of Radiology (FACR), and has had extensive, long-standing involvement in NIH and DOD funded neuroimaging research, including substantial data science experience.
Dr Rajiv (Raj) Gupta
Rajiv (Raj) Gupta is the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations in the Department of Radiologyat the Massachusetts General Hospital, an Associate Professor of Radiology at the Harvard Medical School, and a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at MIT. Dr. Gupta earned his MD at Cornell University, his PhD in Computer Science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, MSc (Physics) and BE (Electrical Engineering) from BITS, Pilani. In addition to serving as the CIMIT Site Miner for MGH, he also directs the Advanced X-ray Imaging Sciences (AXIS) Center at MGH. Prior to joining MGH, Dr. Gupta was a Computer Scientist at GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY, conducting research in medical imaging, non-destructive evaluation of aircraft engine parts, and computer vision.
Prof Christine M. Glastonbury
Christine M. Glastonbury, MBBS, is a Professor of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging, Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, and Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco and has the title of Elizabeth A. Guillamin Endowed Chair. Dr. Glastonbury is a Neuroradiologist with a particular academic and clinical interest in Head & Neck (HN) Imaging. She works closely with the Radiation Oncologists and HN surgical and oncology team at the weekly tumor board and radiation planning sessions to optimize the care of HN cancer patients at UCSF and is a member of the HN Expert Panel for the development of the American Joint Committee on Cancer [AJCC] Cancer Staging System, 8th and 9th editions. Christine is also the first radiologist member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Networks [NCCN] Head and Neck Cancers Panel. She has authored and edited multiple textbooks, more than 140 articles and received multiple awards for scientific and education exhibits at annual meetings.
Originally from Adelaide, Australia, where she completed her medical degree and radiology training, Christine spent a year in London at the Hammersmith Hospital and at the Royal Marsden, Surrey, before 2-year Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. After having previously been Neuroradiology fellowship program director and interim chief of Neuroradiology through COVID, Christine is the Vice-Chair for Academic Affairs and the director of Mentoring in Radiology. She served as the Program President for the World Federation of Neuroradiological Societies’ 2022 meeting in New York City, hosted by the ASNR, and was elected President for the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology in September 2024. She is the current Vice President of the American Roentgen Ray Society.
Dr John A. Carrino
John A. Carrino, M.D., M.P.H., FACR is a Board-Certified Radiologist specializing in Musculoskeletal Radiology since 1995. He has published in over 300 peer-reviewed radiology subspecialty journals, has co-authored over 20 book chapters, and has presented at over 200 conferences including with international societies. He currently serves on several advisory committees including the FDA Radiology Devices Panel and on the Editorial Board of Radiology, the premier scientific journal of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) as the Deputy Editor for Musculoskeletal Imaging and as Associate Editor for Imaging for Arthritis & Rheumatology, an official journal of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Carrino is particularly passionate about healthcare, technology, and informatics; he leads teams that consistently improve performance and efficiency while ensuring quality care and patient safety.
